Laser printer safety, in four lines
Your printer’s own safety instructions always come first. Disclaimer
- Unplug first. Turn the printer off and unplug it before reaching inside, unless the manual says otherwise for that task.
- The fuser is hot. Let it cool and don’t touch areas marked with heat warnings.
- Toner is a fine powder. Don’t breathe it in or use a household vacuum on it. Wash it off skin with cold water.
- Leave sealed parts sealed. Never open the laser unit, screwed-on covers or high-voltage parts, or bypass door switches.
